Geoquip Marine have designed and built a fully heave-compensated, offshore geotechnical drilling system base around the GMR series. A major consideration in the design of the rig is to reduce mobilisation time and cost in logistically challenging locations ... Moreby creating a set of simple system components which minimise the requirements for interfacing with the vessels services.

The GMR300-type geotechnical drilling rig and associated equipment can deploy in excess of 360m of drill string. The GMR300 Series is configured to handle our standard drilling and down-hole sampling, coring and in situ testing tools. A comprehensive range of wireline downhole sampling and testing tools is available including wireline piezocone penetration testing (PCPT, piston sampling, push sampling, wireline core barrel, and percussion (hammer) sampling. All downhole tools (coring, sampling, PS suspension logging) are fully compatible within the 5½" or 6⅝" API drill string.
The Geoquip Marine GMR600 offshore geotechnical drilling rig design is the product of over 30 years' experience of designing, building and operating such rigs. It is a fully heave compensated, offshore geotechnical drilling system.... More

The principle of easy transportation and subsequent mobilisation on board a vessel of opportunity is one of the main design premises of the GMR600. Based on ISO container sized dimensions, each derrick section is an approved shipping container, unique to this series.

The GMR600 is suitable for conducting drilling and sampling in all soil conditions up to 600m (water depth plus borehole depth) using steel API drill pipe. A drop in wireline core barrel is used where variable cemented materials are encountered enabling core samples to be obtained without the need to recover the drill string. All downhole tools are fully interchangeable within the single drill string and bottom hole assembly such that any sampling and testing regime can be accommodated.

The GMR600 rig has a Dando 1000 top drive power swivel capable of handling a maximum 6⅝" API drill string length of 700m. An 8 to 20t seabed frame is used to clamp the drill string to enable downhole sampling and in situ testing to be performed using a suite of downhole tools. The rig can be combined with Geoquip Marine's other equipment, including
Geoquip Marine designed, built and commissioned the Twin Ram Drilling Rig (GMTR120) in 2013, which complements the company’s existing fleet of geotechnical drilling rigs and enabled the expansion into deep water markets.... More

The GMTR120 geotechnical drilling rig is compatible with a wide range of wireline, downhole sampling, testing and logging equipment. This includes piezocone penetration testing (CPTU/PCPT), push/piston and percussion sampling, rotary coring, and P-S suspension logging tools. All can be run interchangeably without recovering the drill string. The GMTR120 is also capable of running Logging While Drilling Bottom Hole Assemblies to provide detailed geophysical, geomechanical, petrophysical and geological borehole data.

The GMTR120 is suitable for drilling, coring, sampling and testing in all soil conditions in water depths plus borehole depth of up to 2,500m with an option to extend to 3,000m.

Geoquip Marine's GMTR series rigs are a series of modular ram hoist type rigs designed to be easily mobilised onto vessels of opportunity. The parts are designed for shipping in standard open top containers.

The rig has an automatic pipe handling system, ram hoist system with twin wire suspension for safe and controlled handling of in-hole tools and 6m passive stroke compensation (improved sample recovery and quality).

The seabed frame can clamp onto the drill string and enable in situ testing with the downhole CPT. Furthermore, the GMTR120 is capable of lowering and hoisting the GMCPT200 seabed CPT system, which enables rapid execution of CPT surveys, especially for offshore wind farm projects.
Geoquip Marine have designed and built the Twin Ram Drilling Rig (GMTR150) which will complement the company's existing fleet and enable expansion into deep water markets. The GMTR150 drilling system is a fully heave compensated (6m stroke) drilling ... Morerig. The GMTR150 incorporates a top drive unit capable of handling 5½" or 6⅝" API drill string.

The GMTR150 is suitable for drilling, coring, sampling and testing in all soil conditions in water depths plus borehole depth of up to 3,500m. The Geoquip Marine designed Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) allows the downhole tools to be fully interchangeable, even with coring, thus mitigating the requirement to recover the drill string (as with some other offshore drilling systems) to change sampling/testing modes.

Wireline cone penetration testing (CPT), push/piston sampler, PS suspension logger, and other downhole tools can be used without having to retrieve the drill string. This makes the sampling process more efficient. The reaction (weight) for the downhole sampling and testing is provided by the 27-tonne seabed frame. The seabed frame incorporates an electronically-driven subsea hydraulic power pack to operate clamps to grip the drill string during testing/sampling if required.

Geoquip Marine's GMTR geotechnical drilling rigs are a series of modular ram hoist type rigs designed to be easily mobilised onto vessels of opportunity. Sufficient spares are carried onboard to perform general repairs whilst offshore. The rig and component parts are designed for transport in standard open-top shipping containers.
